District announces next year’s planned course offerings for combined schools

Some students think it is unfair that Sheffield is closing, but others say they knew it was going to happen.
Eleventh grader Landon Snell said, “I loved Sheffield. I have been going there since kindergarten. But we saw the writing on the wall.”
One of the reasons the Sheffield closure was approved was the prospect of being able to offer more classes at each school. This year Warren Area High school offered 99 classes, while Sheffield only had 27 to offer. With these two schools combined, the new WAHS plans to offer 115 classes for next year.
Tenth grader Angelina Clemente said, “It’s not the brightest idea in the district, and there are already too many students here at Warren Area High School.”
Some Sheffield students, such as tenth grader Brooklyn Phinney, said they support combining the schools because they thought that the classes were too easy for them, and coming to Warren would give them a challenge.
As for the fate of Sheffield, some students say that the school should be turned into stores. Others just want it closed.
“I think it should be turned into a Dave ‘N Busters,” tenth grader Kylie Erwin said.
The school will likely remain district property.
